I'm writing this as I watch a woman I know bring her children to the local park. She is undocumented, her husband is undocumented but the children are US citizens. I don't know who Senators DeMint and Sessions were speaking for yesterday. They weren't speaking for these two small US citizens whose lives continue to be in jeopardy.
Amazing really, that this country, which attracts so many people from around the world is turning its back on immigrants. We should think about giving the Statue of Liberty back. We don't deserve it.

We never wanted her to begin with.
The "Statue of Liberty?" It's called that for a reason - the statue has nothing to do with immigration and Emma Lazarus, the author of the god-awful poem, had nothing to do with the founding of this country.
As for those two childrne, why are their lives in jeopardy if they're sent back with their parents to their lawful country? Explain that one to me.
The statue referred to is actually titled "Liberty Enlightening the World" and has nothing to do with immigration. It's not a welcome mat. Having straightened that out, I'll just remark that this family can remain united, at no hazard, by returning to Ireland. Bon voyage!
Birthright citizenship will be dealt with just as it was in Ireland.
We embrace immigrants as long as they are invited to stay. That does not include visa overstayers. Families here illegally are not in jeopardy if they shouldn't have stayed in the first place. Go home and come back legally.
Apparently you are ignorant of why we were given the Statue and what it represents.
Please do spend some time educating yourself so as to be able to speak about the subject.
TJ;
All the previous posts accurately describe the history, purpose, and meaning of the SOL, as far as I am concerned. Why don't you just tell us - please just say it. What exactly is untrue or inaccurate about the info in the previous posts?
Admittedly there is a lot of myth surrounding the SOL. But we all know that.
