ILIR meeting in Yonkers - Update

I encourage everyone who has posted a comment to the blog in recent weeks to attend the ILIR meeting in the Heritage in Yonkers. If you have questions about the ILIR's proposals going forward, this will be the forum to address that.

Since its inception, the ILIR's main focus has been the undocumented Irish in the U.S. AND a new legal pathway to the U.S. for new Irish immigrants.

The "J" Visa does not address either of those issues. It is a short-term working holiday visa for recent Irish graduates similar to other arrangements in place between Ireland, the U.S., New Zealand and Australia. It IS NOT an immigration visa.

If you want to learn more about what the ILIR is doing, please try and attend the Oct. 21 meeting.

Kelly Fincham
Executive Director, ILIR

A working HOLIDAY visa, give the college grads a pat on the back. Go to America for a year, for a HOLIDAY and then go home.

This was a bad agreement it should not have been signed.
It makes no odds what is said at the meeting, it can be dressed up anyway the Irish gov likes, but what it all comes down to is that the promise was broken, we were not first.
I am from a family of 8 they have voted FF every year. They all have said NEVER again.

Can we work to get the I-245 reinstated? I feel this would be a much better approach.
Why are you only holding a metting in Newyork?

No you are right, it is not an immigration visa, NO it is much worse it is a visa for collage students to party for a year.
What are you going to tell us at this meeting? They are all going to go home after their year is up?
Yeah right, and I have some hot air to sell you.
Stand up at the meeting and tell the truth, this was a bad deal we got from the Irish gov.
Help us keep the faith that we have in the ILIR.

What is this I-245?
How does it work?
Talk about this at your metting in Yonkers, or post something to explain what it is or how it works.

This is bad news for the Irish already here.

The American government is now just going to say they have already help the Irish some and use that as an excuse not to help those who need it most.

What about the Boston Irish, does the ILIR plan to have a meeting in Boston as well as New York?
