Over 1,500 people from across Ireland demonstrated their concern for family or friends living undocumented in America by traveling to Dublin to attend the meeting sponsored by the Irish Lobby for Immigration Reform on Saturday, April 14th.

A Sligo County councillor is urging families of illegal Irish emigrants in the US to get the Irish community in America involved in the campaign to get legal status.
More than 1,500 people attended a rally in Dublin on Saturday in support of their family and friends who are living illegally in the US.
The meeting was organised by the New York-based Irish Lobby for Immigration Reform.
Fine Gael councillor Michael Fleming was there also.

Why is it that we never see Brendan O' Dowd and Kelly Fincham wearing the "LEGALIZE THE IRISH" t-shirts? Should'nt they above all be wearing these shirts? Very symbolic i think.

I can only presume that the ILIR Board wants to look as professional and business like as possible when rubbing shoulders with powerful political figures, in front of hundreds of people.
I am sure that when they go home at night they change into their 'shirts'. Who knows, maybe some even sleep in them.
So, to the rank and file, be proud to wear the 'legalizetheirish' shirt, and hopefully next year you will be able to frame it in a nice shadow box and put it on your wall with an inscription 'By Wearing This Shirt in 2007 I Helped Get it Done' or words to that effect.
