Steady as she goes

After another day of wall to wall debate on the comprehensive immigration reform bill, the Senate today displayed great poise and understanding of what this bill must achieve.
For example, rather than approve an amendment proposed this afternoon by Sen. Cornyn, which would have made it next to impossible for the vast majority of undocumented immigrants to change their status, the Senate choose to adopt the alternative amendment, which would increase penalties for those convicted of sex offenses, domestic violence or use of firearms during human smuggling. Read the entire New York Times article here.

May all the Senators continue this debate with the same intelligence and determination that was displayed today.

I suppose we could sit around this evening moaning about the vote in the Senate, but knowing the great bunch of boys and girls of the ILIR, it`s doubtful that such is the case.
None of us should take it personally,so far it`s been a bumpy ride, and even though the right front mudguard is hanging off, we`ll be still up for to it tomorow.
Thanks to all the ILIR Executive, Grant, Niall, Kelly, Ciaran, Deirdre in Queens, Mary in the Bronx, and the lads and lassies all over the Country, and in Ireland, who`ve made it all possible.
We`re not done yet. We still have a dog in the fight, and there`s fight in the dog.
Let`s keep it going.
All the Best.

Nice comment Seamus, the real battle has only just started and I don't know about you lot but I'm ready and awaiting orders from the lovely people of the ILIR.
Stay positive and proud, and keep believing that this can be done because it can and it will.
