Donegal Councillors asked to support the undocumented Irish in America

Irish Lobby for Immigration Reform supporters and volunteers met with Irish elected officials from Donegal in New York City on March 115, 2007.

Minister Mary Coughlin, TD voiced her support of the Irish undocumented in America as did Donegal County Association President Kathleen O'Keefe.

The luncheon meeting between New York-based Donegal emigres and elected officials from Donegal was also attended by outgoing Irish Consul General to New York and Limerickman Tim O'Connor, who has provided a voice for the Irish undocumented in America efforts and offered steady support for all efforts on their behalf.

The Donegal officials (Enda Bonner, Ciaran Brogan, Brendan Burns, and Dessie Larkin are shown above with ILIR supporter Micheal McMahan) pledged to do whatever was necessary to support the undocumented Irish across America. ILIR suporter Micheal McMahan let them know they would be taken up on their offers of assistance.
No doubt the Family and Friends of the Irish undocumented in America - who will attend a National Meeting and Rally in Dublin on April 14th - will be also be looking for swift action on this issue by their elected officals in Ireland.
