President Meehan pledges AOH support for the passage of legislation that is beneficial, equitable and fair to Irish immigrants.

They said it couldn't be done in 1986. Wrong! They said it couldn't be done in 1990. Wrong Again! Now they are saying it can't be done in 2007.

Working together, Irish American voters and the undocumented Irish living here today can prove them wrong once again. Together, we can make 2007 another great year for the Irish in America.

The issue of comprehensive immigration reform, once again, looms high on the list of legislative business that must be taken up by the 110th Congress. The possibility of passing a bill that would be advantageous to undocumented Irish residents living in the United States as well as those wishing to come here from Ireland was enhanced significantly by the results of the November elections.

The Ancient Order of Hibernians will, as we have for over 170 years, be true to the principles set forth in the Preamble to our National Constitution and be in the vanguard of those supporting the passage of legislation that is beneficial, equitable, and fair to Irish immigrants. \

Jack Meehan, National President
Ancient Order of Hibernians
