Congratulations, Big Tom

Congratulations to Big Tom and the committee of volunteers who worked so hard to make the New York dinner dance for the Irish Lobby for Immigration Reform a great success.
The large crowd represented several generations of proud Irish immigrants united and determined to Legalize the Irish.
Three special guests were honored for their extraordinary efforts on behalf of the undocumented Irish in America. Each honoree was presented with an award named for the deceased loved one of an undocumented Irish immigrant who, because of their immigration status, was unable to attend funeral services in Ireland.
Tim O'Connor, Ireland's Consul General in New York was presented with the Trevor "Topper" Chutes Memorial Award for giving the undocumented Irish in America a voice.

Joan Henchy, a Yonkers born and Kerry raised woman currently raising her family in New York was honored with the Elizabeth Hughes Memorial Award for her tireless fundraising and organizational efforts on behalf of the Irish Lobby for Immigration Reform.

John Duddy, Derry-born/New York-based boxer, was honored with the Ann McCann Memorial Award for acting as the champion of the undocumented Irish wearing his "Legalize the Irish" shirt everytime he enters the ring. Mr. Duddy was unable to attend because he is training in Florida for his fight on Friday, March 16th.

The night was a great way to prepare for the National Lobby Day and Rally on Capitol Hill on Wednesday, March 7, 2007.
